I just bought this Matco service cart for $100 and I would really love to see if I can fix it up a little but I'm not sure what the model number is nor where I would find it. On another note I pulled the old mats out and the p/o had sprayed undercoating on it. I went ahead and cleaned quite a bit of it off with isopropyl alcohol only to find your standard rust spots and paint bubbling. Any suggestions as to what I should do to prevent the rust from spreading further? I'm gonna buy new mats for it but I'm pretty sure that won't fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Dude what you call rust I call character :lol_hitti . If it bothers you that bad you might as well go ahead and sand the rust down to clean metal and repaint. Well then since you repainted the inside, might as well repaint the outside, then might as well straighten up the little dents here and there......... ha ha it happens like that. Me personally I would put new liners in and call it done, unless you work underwater that little scale will stay like that for a lifetime. Repaint or not you got a steal on that cart and it looks great!!!

Sand the rust spots, scuff the insides of the drawers and hit them with a can of Duplicolor bed liner. It's only about $10 for a can and is a really tough coating for toolboxes. I use it on quite a few of my box restomods. Trunk spatter paint works really well too and gives a dash of color.

That was a MSC8.

Thank you for all the replies. I've begun tearing it down to clean it up as there is still quite a bit of the undercoat where the screwdrivers and prybars go. I'm going to replace the casters as they are pretty messed up. I can't wait to get it cleaned up a bit so I can put it to good use. I really doubt I'll be able to get additional accessories in that purple color. I'll check it out next time the tool guy comes by the shop.

Does anyone know how to tell how old this box is? I pulled all the drawers out trying to find a stamp but haven't found anything yet. I've decided to mask off and spray bed coating on the top area as advised byAZ_Catskinner. Not sure about doingthe drawers as well yet but we will see.
