A buddy gave me this ratcheting crimper about 5 years ago. I've used it a fair bit in that time and have come to really like it.

It has no manufacturer markings of any kind on it as far as I can tell. It may be military surplus.

It seems to be well made, the body of the tool is made of at least 3/16" thick steel. The jaws are removable. The jaw closing depth is adjustable, with 5 positions.

One of the reasons I'd like to know who manufactured this crimper is so that I can get some additional dies for it.

Anybody have any ideas?

Those look like GreenLee's to me. The angle of the head and the die mounting bolt locations. I have a set at the office I can look at tomorrow and confirm.

Perhaps for insulated terminals? That's what the crimp pattern sorta looks like to my eyes.

That handle color looks like Weidmuller to me.

It's also got red, blue and yellow dots on it so yeah it's for insulated terminals.

I have about 4 different manufacturers of ratchet crimpers and can tell you that the dies arent all interchangeable.

What you may be able to do is take a couple measurements and match up brand X with yours.
I know the hole the retainer screw goes thru is in a different location but dont remember what else ,and all of mine are in another county.

I've had a really nice crimper in a drawer for about 10 years now that I can't make myself throw away. Every time I try to find dies for it I'm reminded that I can buy a new crimper with a variety of dies for less than what companies charge for a pair of insulated terminal dies.

I missed those colored dots in my quick look! Yes, you're right, MattT -- it's for insulated terminals. Probably a useful tool to have.

There are about a dozen versions of that crimper out there. They all take the same dies. Don't worry about buying dies from that manufacturer. I've got MSD Weatherpack dies in a no-name crimper body like yours. They make perfect crimps.
