picked up a huge machine shop vice yesterday. This is a mother of all vices i have owned thus far.

Looks like the typical import swiveling body vise, Taiwan or China mad most likely.

this thing looks old and weights 100lbs or more

I don't know when the first Asian rotator vises started flooding the market, but I had one in the late 80's, and I believe they had been around for years then. That does look somewhat bigger than most; commonly they have 5" main jaws.

Note that vise is missing both sets of pipe jaws.
