I have a lot of wrenches and not a lot of space. What do you guys recommend I do to aid in organizing my wrench drawer? I own SAE and metric combo wrenches, SAE Double box end as well as SAE and metric line wrenches. Does anyone know where I could purchase kaizen foam in a store instead of online?

Thanx!
Charlie

You plan on shadowing these? Well if your complaint isn't sufficient space for what you have now it'll get 300% worse. Get some wrench racks.

I have a pair of wrench racks but they angle the wrenches so that they can only be used in one direction. I guess I need two directional racks.

There's also a low profile version. I had troubles getting a 1.5" DOE wrench to fit in the drawer with the gripper racks w my old c'man box. The Kennedy has slightly taller drawers.

I'm considering getting a set of the space saver rails—I'm thinking those are better designed for my purposes. The low-profile rails are all the same length, so an 'N' configuration is awkward.

I have a couple of ideas that will beat everything else on here. Not kidding. Stay tuned.......
You need a piece of corrugated metal. I had a piece of it that is about 20 gauge, so it is not some flimsy thing.

You will need to cut a tray out of the metal. It is a bit like a loaf pan a baker might use.

Wrench tray? Or loaf pan?

succky website crapped on my post. So going with picture and briefer comments.

I cut the ends with a metal cutting band saw to make some tabs. A hacksaw would work as well. I used a file to smooth the raggedy edges.
The metal is tough (20 gauge?) so I used hammer, pliers and clamps to fold in the ends. Use pop rivets on some of the trays.
The sides are at less than 90* which makes the trays easier to use, stack, carry, etc.
Pretty simple design and I hope to create several more for stuff like punches, cold chisels, etc.

The plastic wrench racks work well, only if you use a long threaded bolt between them with a nut to secure them from moving on you. With a bolt there they are very secure.

These are superior to anything sold. If you have the ability to make those... or get long silverware trays... You get the most bang for the buck.

Another method... which I use... are Wrench Wraps... so they all roll together... I keep a combination of wrenches in the typical RACKS with rolls of wrenches stuck in the gaps. I have a **** load (a lot) of wrenches and VERY LIMITED space so... Aside from the rolls... I also stack them similar to the way Dumber than Lumber stores them... in gaps created by other wrenches.

Not bad. Very useful if you use your tools for a living and need to get them out and back quickly. My system will store the same number of wrenches in half (probably less than half) the space.
14 wrenches in 3 separate trays in 8 inches of space at less than 2 inches high.
Have one tray for flat tappet wrenches; another for metric flare nut wrenches, and a third one for SAE flare wrenches.
YMMV

hope someone gets some good from this

Make your own crocodile tooth racks from rigid foam. Means you can custom them to your wrenches and drawer size to squeeze the most into the space. Works out cheap and easy work with using a razor or craft knife and tack adhesive for base section. You can find template for teeth online or start from scratch ...
Seen simple one done from length of wood with slot (done with sliding mitre saw) for wrench handle, that worked well and allowed wrenches sit more vertical meaning more wrenches in footprint space .

The coiled wire trick is the most compact way I have found.

I use a combination of Ernst 6015M, Snap-on KRA22A and Snap-on KRA15A for all of my stuff.

I should probably take a picture of them one of these days...

Thanks for all the help fellas. I think that I'm going to go with either the Ernst or Snap-on racks next time that I get paid.

Thanx!

I find the KRA15A/22A unstable if you don't stick them down. So I cut them to a custom length and made an aluminum plate to suit.

They're only unstable if you remove most of the wrenches. That's not a bad idea though with the plate because sometimes I wish I can remove the entire set, much like my Ernst/Tekton racks. Each style rack has its benefits. The Snap Ons fit a lot of wrenches in small spaces, while the Tektons are able to be taken out of box and won't fall out of place with the tabs. You can see 19 wrenches on the kra15a rack and 15 on the Tekton.

Actually here's a better pic. 15 and 15. You can really see the difference.

The KRA15A's look really slik if you are using them in a toolbox.

tekton (and similar) style is not that usable to actually work out of for me.

its also not space efficient in any kind of mobile setup...nice if free tho

Oh I really like that plate idea. For whatever reason some of the racks get skewed on a regular basis but other don't and they are all the same. I've thought many times about just using buttons to fix them in place because of how the lists drawers are perforated for doing that with their divider system. I'm thinking of doing the plate with longitude edge bent up that forms a cradle and maybe handles at both ends so I can grab a rack and go. Thanks for the tip!

If you have some wall space you can get them out of your tool box for easier access and better visibility. Here are some I made for the wrenches I use often.

These are what I use.

Ernst Manufacturing 6015-Black 40-Tool Space Saver Wrench Rail Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005ZIS8QU/?tag=atomicindus08-20
This is what I have for my main box with metrics, and WrenchRacks for my standards/go bag. I definitely prefer how the WrenchRacks hold the wrenches, but I like that I can fit 2 racks closer together and gain some extra space in my drawer. What I really need is a bigger box and tools (and a money tree:lol_hitti).
