Screwdrivers. Phillips and slotted. No torx, no Allen or anything else.

90 in total.

Drawer measure 19x22x3.5

They must all stay in this drawer.

What would you do?

What is in the pic is the best I can come up with, so far. I can live with it, but I want a more organized layout.

The Snapon, Mac and Cornwell drivers love you.

Make 4 boards that are half the length of your tool box. Get them so they will stack. Make One a Snapon green another one SO Orange, a MAC cornwell etc.

Come in in the morning and make today a Mac and SO Green day. Shuffle the boards and it will make you feel you're getting new tools all the time and they are all organised. :) :) :)

Holy moly - how often do you use them all?
I would pick the 10 or so that I actually use, and get rid of the rest.
Honestly, there is some redundancy there in this drawer. I admit it. I could slim it down. But that’s no fun. The collection must be massive.

Joking aside, screwdrivers blades are a bit disposable you could say, so I like to have back ups in addition to variety.

Organize the top 15 of them using any kind of screwdriver organizer you like maybe tool grid or ernst and then “organize” the rest into a Rubbermaid bin in the corner of the garage. Any screwdrivers you haven’t dug out of the bin in the next year get sold or donated

I‘ve consolidated my collection to have all flat blade drivers to have the same color handle.

Likewise the Philips are another color.

Now to the layout it becomes easier with the LHS being one color in one style.

From the opposite side the other color.

I suspect you will have several other colors to put aside for critical tasks like opening and stirring cans of paint.

YMMV

This. But don't sell/donate the unused ones. They will eventually replace worn/broken ones in use.

I think if you want to keep them all in that single drawer, you're going to have to go two layers.

Otherwise, like everyone has said, pick out the dozen most used and organize them. Once that layout is done, slowly add the next used drivers and proceed to arrange the herd.

90 screwdrivers that are all Philips or slotted?? Sir you have about 10x the screwdrivers you could need, and that’s being generous.

You will not be able to organize all these screwdrivers in that little drawer. Not in a useable manner at least.

Figure out what’s more important: having 90 screwdrivers? Or having an organized, accessible screwdriver drawer? I don’t believe both options are possible for you

I partitioned mine.
Drivers are organized by tip style and size.
I really like this method and find it functional.
Occasionally I have to move something to get what I want, but for the most part I can see everything and its not a big deal. I keep the most used on top anyway.

Left side three:
-Pozi and square
-Large slotted
-Torx

Right side:
-Small slotted, stubby slotted, stubby PH
-Medium slotted, PH1
-PH2
-Long PH2
-PH3/4
-Long and cabinet slotted

Older photo but same basic layout:

I would pull all of them out and put your favorites back in. Then, I would keep adding until the drawer is one layer. The rest I would put in your cart, on your workbench, junk drawer and other places you regularly use them.

If you do the largest of each style on the opposite ends, they will lock together like a puzzle IMG_4926.jpeg

I would keep your favorite example of each type/size and ditch the rest. Redundancy is in the form of a bit driver. As long as you aren't using your screwdrivers as pry bars or chisels, you shouldn't be breaking or stripping them.

My "handles" drawer.....

Step 1 is get rid of 3/4 of it, or put them in a box where you know they are, in case you "need" them.

Honestly, if you have 2 of every size, that's enough.

It's hard to get rid of tools, but at some point, you're never going to use most of them.

You could tool up a friend or two, from there set up your go to pieces and use the **** out of them.

Rest of the stuff goes into a sacrificial storage, for when you need to make a special tool out of one, or just plain one and done type of use.

I just re-read the original post and saw all 90 are Philips or slotted. I assumed some were torx. Wow that’s alot of screwdrivers even for this place

Some parts trays that will allow you to make better use of the drawer height. 3-4 screwdrivers deep in 3 1/2 inches should be easy and small trays let you search pretty efficiently.

The screwdrivers that we all collect, or can't say no to, must not be put in the same drawers with the frequently used drivers. Only need 2 of each driver at most in the main user box. I use new inexpensive smallish toolboxes to store screwdriver collections.
