Hi guys,
I know there are a load of threads asking this question about different things, but this thing’s always been a mystery and I’d love to know what it is.
It belonged to my grandfather, and I’d guess it dates no later than the 50’s.
It has the feel of a piece of inspection equipment and could well have been made by Starrett or Moore and Wright or somesuch, but has no makers marks. It’s about six inches long.
The main part of the tool appears to be ground, so it’s probably a commercially made tool, not something that’s been made up.
My grandfather stored it with his micrometers, calipers and rules, but unlike just about every other tool that either he or my Dad patiently explained the purpose of, this was never mentioned. Sadly, my Dad never knew either.
If anybody knows, you can solve a 35 year old mystery!
