I need high flow air hose/tool./compressor connectors and am looking at various makers of V-style connectors for 1/4" NPT fittings. Brands I am considering are
MIlton amazon.com/Milton-S-217-Style-Coupler-Plug/dp/B001O2ZGQ6/ref=psdc_552276_t3_B077Y7P9PW ,
Milton Purple amazon.com/ColorFit-Milton-HIGHFLOWPRO-S-314VKIT-Coupler/dp/B077Y7P9PW/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=milton+purple&qid=1600823791&s=hi&sr=1-1 ,
Tanya amazon.com/dp/B07XRBRF1J/?coliid=I1KNJGQ5VGBTDR&colid=10G0JN4ECNE08&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it ,
Winnsky amazon.com/dp/B083VZHRDX/?coliid=I2HA8Z9F8KUQUA&colid=10G0JN4ECNE08&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

so far. Use is for HVLP paint gun, straight line and DA sander. Rough shop conditions including outdoor use. I need durability. Please pardon the way I posted URLs, I'm new here.

I have seen reports of people using the Milton V style fitting having problems with air leaks. No experience with any of them myself though.

I heard this before here on GJ. I did a little research and I think what happened was the V style production moved overseas and that seems like the time this complaint started to appear.

Anybody have any similar experiences? I have USA made Milton V style and have zero issues currently.

I would spend some time over at Foster Mfg

www.couplers.com

They're paired (bought?) with/by ZSi but there are many styles to choose from.

Amazon would not be my choice for durability unless a person wanted to buy in bulk and change often.

I went with the steel 3/8-1/4 fitting from Harbor Freight on a 3/8 hose. They’re M style I believe.if you want the most flow get the largest bore you can. And don’t worry too much about durability because all of them leak eventually.

That certainly wouldn’t be a big shock🦨 now would it!

Everything we have has milton v style and haven't noticed any issues. Have a mix of the brass and aluminum anodized fittings as well

Been using Prevost for a while now and its holding up well with no leaks. I like the safety of the release button no more hose ends whipping around.

None of those tools require a real special fitting. I got to turn the tool down, it can get more than it needs. I have put it's in and ran 2, operators can't tell the difference, barely if a guy know and looking for it. I was on z power plant, was a spider web of random t and y. Never short.

I just ended up ordering the Milton brass couplers with steel plugs. I don't like the idea of aluminum on a wear surface - ie the plug end.

Prevost appears to work with Milton V high flow fittings. I have not tried connecting Prevost safety couplers to other high flow fittings--although the safety couplers specifically won't work with M/D fittings (I think the regular Prevost couplers will, but I have not tried).

The Stedlin couplers are nice but I understand the style is proprietary (the coupler needs a Stedlin plug)? The Prevost safety couplers also take the pressure down without a sonic blast.

As for the Milton V problems: I have found very few reported online, certainly no more than other good products. When I have (very rarely), it always is for the brass fittings. I have Milton V style fittings that are not made in the USA, but I have not had them for long enough to be able rate longevity (they replaced M style fittings). I also use them in a home shop, while the reported problems I have read are in general in a pro shop where they get connected/disconnected dozens of times every day.

Stedlin couplers are designed to accept common M style plugs and our own QuietPlugs. In addition they also accept the Stedlin "Full Flow" plug.
The full flow plug also works in other Hi-Flo brands but without the easy connect and disconnect feature of Stedlin couplers.
In addition the Stedlin couplers use 8 polymer balls which have a very low friction and don't damage aluminum plugs whatsoever. I only mention this because of the poster who said he wouldn't use aluminum plugs for this reason.

oh on, stedlin is back, I though he left the forum.

I love prevost, bit bulky but I just don't like the press down release collar style.

I'm all Milton V and have no leak issues. I made the switch years ago, so I can't comment on current quality.

Something changed in the Milton production. Most likely it was COO. The newer fitting don’t have the name stamped on them and once they are out of the package you don’t know who made them.

Having said that I’ve got Milton V fittings both older and new and haven’t noticed any problems though the older feels better.

+1. I switched to Prevost about 5 years ago. No failures, nice build quality, and safe.

Bought Stedlins (after becoming an alliance member). Alliance discount accepted without issue. 1 handed connections! No explosions of air-noise! I worry the aluminum wont hold up on the outdoor tools that see rougher duty (like my framing nailer). Buying a set for my BIL's birthday.

A big thanks to all of you who are Stedlin customers.
Competing with the big brands and off shore manufacturing is no easy task that’s for sure.

Yeah, next I'm testing your customer service ; ) Ordered extra female fittings for the compressor end of the hose at the last second instead of extra male threaded tool fittings. I called and said please just let me mail you these and mail me 4 of the correct ones. please don't make me deal with payment process. Stedlin said OK!

Serious question; if I purchase these:

https://stedlin.com/product/quiethose/

will steel air hose fitting operate the same as your aluminum fittings in all regards? can I insert a regular steel fitting into a Stedlin coupling with one hand?

Just keep in mind that the purpose of a QuietHose fitting is to quiet the hose exhaust not the tool. We have had customers try to quiet a tool exhaust with a QuietHose fitting.

Been using the Stedlin connectors on the farm since they were available, no issues.

The only complaint I have is the orbital with the male npt fitting going to the male coupler is a finger pincher on certain tools like a vacula blow gun. Not an issue with the one built into the female coupler.
