So this week I've found out what the most common tools are needed at my job. Most of them are Torx, Hex, and E-Torx. Short sockets, long ones, swivel torx.

Most of the mechanics have either Snap-on, or Matco. I was thinking about getting either S-K, or VIM. Do you guys have an opinions or recommendations? Would love to hear them and thanks in advance.

I'd look at vim for bit sockets. I don't own vim, but I have a healthy amount of vim made Cornwell bit sockets. They are a second set to my SO, Mac and SK bit set. Can't say I ever broke one, overall damn good bits. SK are good, but if I had to do it again, I'd buy my 60 some piece Cornwell set again.

I have the VIM made Cornwell set and it is damn good. I also have a USA made Craftsman set that I have had since 1996 and have never broken one. I mainly use the t-50 for seat belt bolts and it has held up nice.

make sure you only have regular Torx/E-Torx and not Torx Temper-resistant, Torx Plus, Torx Plus Temper-resistant or some of the numerous other variants like ttap, drivers might more or less fit(or not at all) but make a mess of the fastener head and help you lose lots of time 'cause you don't have the right bit...

as for sockets, i got Ko-ken(+ Beta, Würth and Sam branded ones), Sunex and some old french-made Facom. buy what you're comfortable with and has the of stuff you need(Ko-ken and Snap-on seem to have the two biggest Torx/variants range). ;)

enjoy your new job.
