I've got a Quincy QR 25 325 compressor made in the early '90's that I picked up a couple of years ago. It was sitting outside but well covered when I obtained it. It is 220v two stage. I intended to make it my shop air supply compressor. I cleaned it up and replaced a weeping gasket on the case. Works well and pumps to 175psi. Could use a going over in terms of some touch-up paint and replacement of the fill tube from the compressor head to the tank (though it is functional). I had to mess around with the control box initially but it's in working order (starts, fills, stops, restarts as needed) currently. It's essentially a restoration project that needs hardly any restoration.

I need to move it on as I am moving soon. I would like some advice on its ballpark value -- I honestly don't know the range on these. Not looking to make a killing but an idea of a fair price is what I seek. Oh, and I have the manuals for it as well (not originals but downloaded from Quincy and all organized in a binder).

It's located in Olympia, WA if that at all matters.

Thanks up front!

Make sure the tank drain is not block and free of water etc, add an auto drain setup or just an easy the reach ball valve.. I tested a tank from 1957 and it is fine.

Thanks guys, yeah it's functional. I've had it up to pressure (though I wouldn't do it again without doing a water-filled pressure test) and the drain is open and free. I just don't have an idea what they're going for. Couldn't find any on ebay to reality check.

Thanks!

Around here $650 asking, take a $550 offer would sell it in less than a week. I would be there ten minutes after you listed it for $350 or less and if you wanted to wait it out you might be able to catch someone for $750. That's based on your description so far with no pictures, and of course prices vary by area.

I'm up in the Seattle area and I've been watching compressor prices on Craigslist in this region for the past several years. I have a similar compressor that still has a 3-phase motor on it that I picked up for around $400 a couple of years ago (it was a good deal, but I haven't had the time to do much to it yet so I can run it at home).

Is your tank horizontal or vertical? The vertical units tend to command more money (and are also less common) since they eat up less floorspace. And what brand of motor is on it? Off-brand motor may affect the value a bit. And I'm assuming that it also comes with the magnetic starter?

Value? For a single-phase Quincy like that in running condition, I'd say $800-1500. I don't know what compressors on Craigslist end up actually selling for since I see a lot of these higher-end compressors sitting for sale for months on end when priced above $1K. You may also have better luck advertising it on forums like this one and other automotive or machining forums that you may be a member of.

It's a top-end machine (no need to start a flame war about which brand is best here) that one would pay, what, probably close to $5K these days to buy new (depending upon what comes with it such as starter, automatic drain valve, aftercooler, etc).

Good advice to hydrotest the tank, or at a minimum, open up a plug on it and do a visual inspection, but that can be the worry of the next owner unless you want to do a joint inspection with the buyer.

I see a lot of people with just the bare 325 pump asking $600-800, as another reference.

Around metro NYC, would go for 800-1300, depending how it looks. Any rust on the pump or tank takes it down a bit.

Agreed. Up in Albany where i live, same thing. $800-1300 depending on condition. And some guys will buy it as long as the tank is in good shape, clean it up, and sell it for even more.

Thanks much for the feedback. I think I'm going to put it out there for $650 and see what happens. Only looking to recoup and move it on (and out of the shop).

It is a horizontal btw.
