Help me spend more money

So I've been a member for less then a month and this site has already guided me in the right direction to spend more $ then I planed on in remodeling my garage. Good job guys
Now for the practical side. I need a new cordless drill as I burned up my 18 volt Dewalt of 10 years abusing it during the remodeling. I liked the Dewalt and have looked at some of their combo drill/driver packages. Don't know if I need the impact driver or not but liked the idea of a hammer drill as it would have helped in the remodeling. I would consider myself a serious DIY guy. ( I didn't say good, just serious.....) I've looked at the brushless v. brush designed motors and understand the differences. It would not be an immediate purchase but I would like a heads up on what would be best and check for sales. Thanks in advance.

I love my M18 Fuel drill and my driver is a 12 volt Dewalt that I use the **** out of. I would recommend either but for home use I like the lightweight of the smaller 12 volt.

If you want a serious drill i'll have to recommend Makita's Brushless LXT line. Absolutely fantastic. My grandfather used Makita's back when he was working and I still use a drill he bought in 1981, (with a different battery of course).

My vote is the dewalt 12v impact. Small light weight and will take a beating. We use them everyday at work (should say we abuse them everyday at work) and never have a problem with them.

I'll have to chip in for Ridgid register the tool and get free life time replacement on the tool and batteries. I use the hell out of a old one (the new lion bats work on the old tools, the only brand that does this) and never had a failure, Also have newer ones as well and beat the **** out of them daily.

How much 18v dealt stuff do,you have?
If you have several pieces already I would just buy another one to match what I have.
If you only have the drill I would look at the new dealt 20v

Brushless. Other than that, get whichever fits your hand the best, and has other tools in the lineup that you think you'll want. DO get a combo kit with the drill/driver and impact driver. Know that the hammer drill will be significantly heavier than a comparable compact drill/driver.

I've got tons of Dewalt 18v stuff, so that's where my vote would go -

However, if you don't have any other Dewalt 18v stuff, then I'm TOLD that Home Depot has Rigid with a LIFETIME return policy on the tool AND on the battery, NO QUESTIONS ASKED - if that's the case, tough not to try the Home Depot Rigid tools out
