Help me wire my DP

Electrical and me are not good friends. I dabble but only if I have done it before or its something that wont hurt/explode/cost $. Just bought this glorious oldschool Rockwell and want to get it up and running. Pics to follow!

I have already grouped my wires from the motor appropriately (T2/4/8) (T1/3/5).

Can someone please chime in how I need to wire this up? ie (hot) white goes to... black.... and what do I do with the red?

(thats my new plug+cord coming up from the bottom, the red/wht/blck/grn is the switch, and the black wires are grouped according to the motor "low voltage" diagram)

Since the motor is connected for 120 volts, I'll presume you will be powering the machine with 120 volts.

White from cordset to (T2/4/8)
Black from cordset to black going to switch
Red from switch to (T1/3/5).

Tape off white going to switch unless there is a light in the drill head to be powered.

Normal situation would be for the switch to be connected to red & black.

If there is a light in the head, the white from the switch will need to connect to the
White from cordset to (T2/4/8) junction.

Before I could advise you,I'd have to see a wiring diagram/back and front pics of the switch.

Its possible the red-black-white might not be what is expected...

Virgil Tech did me right, wired it up and it ran great.... in reverse.

But luckily there is info how to reverse on the motor plate. Got it working, spins up beautifully.

Now I am looking for a new switch, turns out I have a momentary switch on this? Strange, as its a finger operated one in the usual above the quill location.

Perhaps thats why its in such amazing shape, nobody wanted to hold their finger on the switch and hold the work piece?

Sounds as if the motor originally had a contactor. With that you push the start button and a coil is energized to hold it on. Then push off button to break the circuit. For high current that is required. But for your use I think the new switch is the answer.

Correct, you need a "seal circuit" which is similar to this. The relay contact then takes the place of the person who has to hold down the "jog" pushbutton :)

With a selector switch, you could also have forward and reverse contactors. If interested I can make up a drawing for you.
