Hello everyone! I've always seen this forum while looking for information on other projects but now I need help.

I just bought a used speedaire 4xa59 (80 gal, Baldor L1410t) and it has no magnetic starter and I'm going to have a 240v line ran to my garage for this.
I was looking at a eaton 230 1phase mag starter but then I realized I want the compressor to have a off and on switch.
I saw some YouTube video with a guy talking about a night switch but I don't know or like to work on electric things like this. I just don't like to work with electricity.
The baldor motor is supposed to be just rebuilt and the compressor works fine. Since the motor uses 23amps a 30 amp should be fine right?
This is going to be used in my garage with the usual air tools but right now I have a small blast cabinet that encouraged me on buying this compressor so I didn't burn up my 30 gal craftsman that I'm now going to sell. That and I need to apply a pray on bed liner on my son's truck. I'm sure I'll find other projects later.
The less I spend the better for my health (wife isn't too happy about this purchase)
I was thinking about getting the eaton mag starter that I saw for $150 and with the help of another member here a disconnect box. That should be fine right guys? Do I really need the mag starter and is 10 guage okay since the run will only be less than 10 ft?
Thanks in advance guys

#8 Romex or #10 thhn and about a 50A breaker for a 5 hp motor.

Quite a few pressure switches are rated for 5 hp but there's plenty that aren't. No way of knowing what you have. If you get a starter just make sure it's rated 5hp on 230v 1 phase.

I ordered the magnetic starter. I just saw it says on the pressure switch to not run the supply directly to it. It's a GE 30 amp rated at 7.5hp max
I also ordered a 30a disconnect and #8 romex.
Man I hope that's all I need.

Not sure if you're talking about the pressure switch or the starter. Be careful about horsepower ratings. There are different ratings for single-phase and three-phase. A starter that's rated for 7.5 hp on 3 phase is only good for about 3hp on single phase.

A friend of mine asked me if the pressure switch voltage and the coil voltage for the starter box is the same??? Can it be different for these compressors? I bought a eaton B27CGF30B040 starter box.
I wish I had more knowledge about this stuff. Please help me guys.
My only other option is to hire a professional electrician to do all this but I don't have that kind of $$$ just laying around at the moment. Thanks guys

The pressure switch can be used for whatever coil voltage you choose. Hopefully you picked a starter with a 240 volt coil since that is the same voltage the compressor uses. Otherwise you will need to bring additional wires to it to get the correct voltage.
