Hi folks,

I am looking at these fittings for a non-standard use and am trying to guesstimate the orifice size. I have googled the 06AN, 08AN, 10AN and 12AN but can't find a description of the sizes. I even looked in my pocket engineers reference guide but I just don't know enough to get close enough. Sort of like looking up a tough word in the dictionary, I can't even guess close enough to find it sometimes!

Any advice would be appreciated. Here are two examples.

General rule of thumb I've always used was put the an size over 16. So -6 an would be 6/16 or 3/8", -8 would be 8/16 or 1/2", etc. Whether its an exact measurement to the thousandth or not, I'm not sure. I'm sure someone will come along with a longwinded reply and tell me how wrong I am lol.

You are right on ! I don't think the I.D. is tightly controlled, certainly nor as tightly controlled as the external dimensions.

well, that would be easy. you're saying that's the sectional diameter of the threaded fitting or the orifice itself?
