All,

I'm lucky enough to have a 3 car garage. Unfortunately, it's not deep enough to easily accomodate my truck, so - that sits outside, leaving my wife's pilot and my 65 Chevy Truck project truck inside.

Apologies for the verbose nature of the post; however, I've been so impressed with the ideas I've seen, I really wanted to solicit opinions from the brain trust.

I use my garage for home projects, parking of 2 vehicles AND working on my 65 project vehicle. I'm reasonably "handy" - having done extensive moulding work; however, I've never built cabinets or any really anything else. (even though I have the tools).

I had put epoxy down on the floor before we moved in, it's not really holding up all that well. Luckily, the walls and ceilings are already finished with drywall - two unique features are the relative low ceiling (room above) and the concrete wheel stop that juts out about 3 feet from the front of the garage.

I've included the layout below, along with a couple of pics.

I built the workbenches myself - they are grossly over-engineered...."sturdy" is one of my favorite words :)

Here are my primary objectives in order of priority:

- make sure everything has a place. Right now, the garage gets cluttered very quickly and my work surfaces turn into storage surfaces over night.

- Workable! See point above re: work surfaces. I really don't know what to do with my work bench, the work table, my tool box, etc. It's just not working well right now and I keep moving everything around.

- visually appealing. I spent quite a bit of time out there, I'd like to be proud of it.

Hopefully, the image above appears "in line" vs. a link. it's the floor plan, along with a few measurements.

This next image is of my workbench and refridgerator...it's currently sitting in the recessed section of the garage closest to the house.

Next image: standing at the door to the house, looking across. You can see the 65 frame along with the pegboard creation I did to create some space for garden tools.

Next, is a work bench close up. It's a large flat bench with a "hutch" on the back for verticle storage:

I recently moved my work table (staining an end table for my son's room) to be parallel to the workbench...not sure if I like it. Tool box location is "just ok"

Lastly, a shot of the 65 cab and frame. I recently finished the frame, it's been sanded, painted and looks great (my first time taking a vehicle all the way to the frame)

Well, hopefully my pictures posted well - I really would love some layout and design ideas - criticize away!

first thing I would say is that you need to think of the garage as a 3-dimensional space.
and not square footage.
shelving and pallet racks are your best bet.
View media item 2677pallet racks allow you to store stuff up high while having tools and equipment within easy reach

If you are using Internet explorer, right-click on the image and choose properties, the URL will be there, you can copy (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V)

If you are using firefox, right-click on the image and choose "Copy Image Location" and it will do the copy part for you automatically.

Yes - I was following you...figured out it's a Yahoo deal. I moved my pics to a google "picasa" account and it worked in the test section.

LeftyZ - thanks so much

Moderator - you can delete this thread, I'm going to start a new one that doesn't have all the posting help...thanks.
