Looking to mount some pegboard and some shelves on my cinder block wall. HD had some toggle bolts but they looked a little limp for the job.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any info.

Edit: Found some nice looking Toggler brand bolts online. Might head down to my local Fastenal Store to check them out tomorrow.

Tapcon's you'll want to get the tapcom drill bit as well as their sizing seems to be just a hair off but I have everything in my block garage anchored to the wall with tapcons, and if you don't have a hammer drill you'll want one of those as well, make drilling in block a lot quicker and easier, even a small cjheap hammer drill will make short work of drilling into hollow blocks

Be careful using a rotary hammer in cinder block , as it has a tendency to blow the back of the block out . You'd be safe with a standard hammer drill.

I've never had a problem using a regular drill. My hammer dril had a tendency to "walk" as I was drilling, making the hole too big.

Rawl plugs will work as will tapcons. Put a little silicone sealant in the hole before you put the tap con in to the hole, this will keep it from crumbling over time from vibtration, curing, etc.

I have used a hammer drill with Tapcons many times mounting things to cinder blocks. It is fast and easy, although Tapcons are not exactly cheap. I would do it again, though.

Regular drill will work fine. x2 on the hammer drill enlarging the hole a bit too much. The Tapcon's do get expensive if you need alot of them, but they seem to be the easiest IMO - also leaves the smallest hole when they get removed. Other alternatives I've used are lead anchors, lag shields, and Hilti togglers (sometimes problematic due to block webbing).
