Just finished my install of a used system II 6000 lb two post and was running it thru a couple up and down cycles to equalize/bleed it. It was going really well but now it's stuck in the fully raised position and wont come down. No car on it of course.

Any ideas?

Did you locks catch somehow?

Can you take a photo of the stuck lift including photos up under the carrage so I can see the actual lock mechanism.

Couple of Questions

Amount of oil in tank?
Pics would Help to see If its a two line system.
Do you see a 3/4 headed bolt on the cly? ( should be near the top of the red part) thats the bleed ( one on each cly ) try reliving some pressure there cover with couple of rags an remember NOT to take it all the way off.

There was some kind of pressure valve on the bottom of the single line system.

IF you have to call on Mon have the serial # ready -- there were a Great Help when I called about a minor thing

i got it figgered out, (I think).Fluid level good. Carriages are not stuck or locked. I did try to crack open the bleeder on the slave side ram, no difference, I then cracked the overhead line to relieve some pressure and she unstuck herself. I ran it thru a couple/few more cycles (not all the way up) and the clunks from the locks are a split second apart so the rams are pretty close in sync. Threw the Torino on it and it didnt behave very well at first, so I tried to relieve any trapped air at the slave side ram. Then went for broke and yippeee up she went. Still a little nervous going under neath the car, think I'm gonna get a couple of adjustable support stands, one front, one rear to take the wobble out.

Thanks for all the replies fellas. I got pics, I'll post soon.

Oh and a system two is the little brother to the system one, this is an early eighties 6,000 lb lift.

Is that a single line lift? I'm glad you seem to have sorted it!

I was so nervous I would have an issue with my System 1A, but I put it all together and it sync'd instantly and she goes right up and down. I even did the 1 lock test, sure enough the unlocked carriage stops too!

I know what you mean about fear of going underneath. We just need to get comfortable but NOT complacent.

If by single line your talking about the one that goes overhead then yes. The recommended bleeding procedure is similar to bench bleeding a master cylinder. I'm going to see if I can source the appropriate plastic fittings and some hose and give it a whirl, cant hurt.

I'd rather weld up some support stands than buy some, but not sure where to get the screw adjuster mechanism, any ideas? Are you even considering using any?

I've heard those singles can be a "fun" bleed. I would do whatever the manual says. Maybe call Mohawk themselves and ask also. I had a great conversation with Tim there when I was shopping.

I wasn't planning on using any. I've never seen them used in a shop, and I am being SUPER careful making sure my load is balanced.

This was practically a joke for my 9k System 1A:

This, on the other hand, took me 4 tries to get to lift evenly and steady:

We did run into a small problem with the VW: the arms would not retract enough. I wound up just lifting it with the lift arm on the lift point. I see Mohawk sell pads that mount there. I am thinking about picking up a set.

I had the same problem on my install of a used lift. Glad you figured it out. I had to study the hydraulics to fully understand them. Mine has 2-2 way cylinders, pump pressure lifts one, as it lifts, the first cylinder passes fluid from the down position into the lift position of the 2nd cylinder. Essentially you pressurize one and it manually pressurizes the other. Seems goofy but it works...only lost 2 gallons of ATF cracking the lines to get mine un-stuck until I figured out how it works...
