I have 3 of the old vintage Delta lathes. They all have motors and run.

What I'm trying to figure out is which one I should keep as my personal lathe and which ones I should sell. I've attached pictures I took of them. The serial numbers that I can see are:

Rockwell catalog # 46-525 serial # 1402898
Delta Rockwell serial # 106-148
Delta Rockwell serial # 115-245

Any advice or thoughts on these machines welcome. Some are missing parts. The one that has the variable speed control has the handle broken off and seemingly frozen. (I can't move it)

If you can cobble one machine and find all the missing parts either on Ebay or by taking them off the other machines then that is the machine to keep. Much better to have one complete machine.

Var. speed is a nice feature but if it is broke you must factor in your time & money to get it repaired and find any missing parts So your call.

The gap bed and variable speed are the ones you want. How handy are you, as they aren't really complicated machines.

Any idea how hard it's going to be to find a replacement variable speed handle? I'm pretty handy. I just wasnt' sure if one of these machines is easier to find parts for than the others.

Not difficult to find, but how much one pays depends on how patient. But yes, the variable speed is much less common than those without it.

First, read their many rigidly enforced rules and if you think you can comply, join Old Woodworking Machines (OWWM) and you'll find it there.
