My head is spinning from all the research I have been doing. Its gotten to the point I can't make up my mind, too many options.
Heres my deal, I have a small garage, approx 450 square feet. About a foot of it protrudes under the garage door and butts up against our asphalt driveway. This area is exposed to the weather. We only park in the garage during the winter, which brings road salt onto the unprotected concrete. Last year we experienced some small wafer like chips "popping up", especially on the part that is exposed to the outside.
I would like to coat my garage floor to protect it from further damage. I started off going to my local Lowes and Sherwin Williams. I found three products between the two stores, Valspar, Rust-oleum, and H&C Shield Crete. All three are similar priced and likely quality. After doing some research, I feel that these three products would be good, but the results would be short lived.
I want something that will be inexpensive (budget around $500) but long lasting. After poking around on here and Allgaragefloors.com, I am flustered will all the options. Right now I am leaning toward grinding the floor (rental from Home Depot) then putting down Rust-Oleum 238466 Professional Floor Coating Kit followed by RUST-OLEUM 263997 Epoxy Shield Gallon Clear Professional Premium Floor Coating Kit.
Would this be a good solution? Is there a better one for the money? I don't mind spending more, just want to make sure I am getting the best value for my dollar. I don't know how interested I am in tile, not sure it would look right under the door and exposed to the outside.
Thank you
Glen
