I having trouble on what kinda of fabrication table I want to build, as I 3 big pieces of steel that I received from helping an old friend. I have a 33"Wx8'Lx.75"thick and I also have two 9' pieces of 6" c channel.

Thick plate would be something like the strong hand benches with 5/8 water jet holes, that way I can even use their tooling.I do not know what i would do with the c channel then if I did this.

The c channel route sounds pleasing, as I would have a lower cost but I feel like that big of a plate that is already straight would be a waste as just a regular table top.

What do you guys think would be the best route?

Attach the C channel to the bottom of the plate
Attach 4x4 steel tube to the C channel as legs
Attach big casters to the bottom of the 4x4 tubes so you can move it around

Then use that to build the chassis of a start rod

That's what I would do

well I got prices today for just some 10' foot pieces of square/rectangle tube and what i wanted to use was about 80$ more then the price of the C. So i might just use the C as my long runners and buy smaller pieces to make legs and cross beams.
