I have a garage that is 28x32, half of it has a wall through the middle of it that devides it. The one half is heated into a nice room where we watch tv, computer and so on, the other half is where I keep my two cars but have been thinking about taking the center wall down to just make it all one big open area so I can clean/wax,change the oil and so on my cars during the winter but still have my man cave also. One of my main concerns is the garage door, right now all I have up is just the cheap "o" 9x7 (4) panel and although it has the rubber gaskets on the outside front edges America doesn't have enough propane to heat my room if I took down that wall now. I would need one that is high in r rating but it "will have" to seal out all of the cold air better than the one I have. My second concern is the floor,I've seen the race deck and clear coats but what do some of you put down that you can drive on but help insulate it as well, mine is a (4'') slab of concrete that has been down way before all of this insulation under the slabs became popular. Has anyone ever converted a room like I am wanting to do or would it be a mistake in more ways than just the door and can any one comment on my two concerns. thanks for any help, hootie in n.c.
