help on this Rockwell 15-665 drill

I picked up this Delta Rockwell 15-665 drill press today. Originally from the Smith and Wesson factory. 3/4 hp. 110 v. Jacobs chuck. Odd thing is that this has a counter weight and no work table. This operates by bringing the motor to the work.

Every 15-665 drill press I've seen is a floor model with work table. Can anyone here shed some light.

There is a big worktable under those tools.

Also got all those 1 inch and up drill bits and the metal cabinet with drawers and a door. Probably paid too much at 250 for everything but I loved this drill.

It's a bench production table machine. Designed for small parts in vises and or jigs to hold the work piece without additional clamps to the table. They used the same head on a range of different machines, bench and floor with different tables. They aren't as common as the standard bench or floor machines and not nearly as useful in the general shop. IIRC they did not change the badge number on the head, only the catalog number to indicate which table and base the machine had. Back then you could even by just the head for custom drilling fixtures.

Thanks Z. I like it because it suits my needs for my vise restorations and because it has a reverse.

Just buy a normal drill press table for it and be done. Buy a Rockwell Delta is you want to be proper. Or a 15" Craftsman table, etc if price is an issue.

Tool, this dp will work perfectly, as is, for what I do. it is setup for a bench top and I'll keep i that way. i was drilling on it today. it is so much easier for me.

The guy has a gorgeous black CM stand up drill press as well with a 2 axis American made work table for $100 that I'm getting.

I recently picked up one of these as well, and I'm in the process of restoring it.

I cannot figure out for the life of me how to raise or lower the head, and how the pully system works. I've got it partially disassembled and there's nothing obvious that I can see impeding the movement. I've got a copy of the manual for the floor model 6 plus 6, and all it says to do is loosen the knob on the left side of the press. I've done that, and loosened just about every other bolt and nut I can find that looks like it might be holding it together. Is this just a matter of rust keeping it from moving, or is there a screw or something else that needs to be removed that I am missing?

Any help would be much appreciated. This is driving me crazy and I don't want to assume its just seized with rust and then do something to damage it.
