Help Organize Cordless Tool Packout Boxes

i bought several of the smallish packout boxes and kaizen foam to organize things. One for my sawzall. One for my rotary hammer. One for my angle grinder + bandfile.

Heres where it gets hard. Trying to figure out how to split these up: (all M12 fuel)

• Cordless Drill
• Cordless Bit Driver
• Multipurpose Oscillating Tool
• Right angle Die grinder

I’m not a professional wrench or contractor so my tools are general purpose, I don’t do the same job over and over. The one tool I never used is the die grinder, I picked it up on sale based on how useful people here say they are.

I was tempted to put the drill and driver in one box. With the idea that I might drill holes and then want to drive fasteners through the holes I just drilled. But then I realized I’ve literally never used these two tools together. I rarely use the driver and when I do it’s driving self-tapping screws in.

Then I thought maybe the driver doesn’t get put In a case at all, it goes in a drawer in the garage. Like my M12 impact wrench, which also has no need for a case, because I’m not using it anywhere but the garage. The packout cases are nice to grab a set of tools and bring to a different part of the house. Or to take to a Family members house to fix their stuff.

So I thought maybe the drill gets its own case and I fill it with different drill bits. Spade bits. Hole saw. Regular drill bits. Some ceramic bits I have. Even some hex bits to use the drill as a driver if needed. That makes more sense to me than pairing the driver with it.

Maybe the driver goes in a small tool bag with a hand full of bits and an assortment of drywall and wood screws.

I’m also thinking of paring the multipurpose oscillating tool with the right angle grinder. They both seem like general purpose small job grinding /cutting / sanding / polishing tools. And fill the box with attachments for each.

Take some cardboard and cut it to same size as box and then trace tools for layout on cardboard and look for most efficient layout for each job/tool’s box? Best I can think of. Let’s you play with layout and how each should or could go.

I use the smaller toolbox with the black top (not the organizer with the clear top) for M12 stuff. The multi tool will fit in one of the bins that come with the box like it is made for it. Without the other 3 bins or foam I have the fuel drill, driver, drill bits, driver bits, charger, batteries, multi tool blades. When I am using the packout drawers I separate the multi tool.

Just a simple divider and a bin. No foam but a good use of space
I would bend the divider out of sheet metal

Now that's a good use of space, super easy to make and mod as well. Get some Kydex, heat, bend, readjust if needed.
