Help picking a 3/8" drive swivel impact set..

I have a complete set of metric 1/2" pin-less shallow swivels. Just recently I ordered a Snap-On 207ipfm but it skips two sizes so I sold it (don't like skipping sizes). I'm looking to find a set less than $200 but the cheaper the better. Also, I'm not a mechanic, just a weekend wrencher. Any suggestions as to what brand to buy and whether to go shallow or deep?

I've been looking at SK (10pc) and a Sunex set. Will post links/part numbers shortly.

I'm not a pro either, I've had great luck so far with the harbor freight pin less swivel impacts. I have the 1/2" dr and they were under $30

I don't own any 3/8 impact stuff, only 1/2. I am sure this set would be just as good in 3/8 as it is in 1/2.

Grey pneumatic...8-19 shallow was on sale on amazon for like 87 bucks for a while...

I'm a pro and use mine daily...only prob is that I got the 12 points and the 13 mil is starting to wear out from using it on about a hundred or so diff covers

HF..sorry I didn't include that. I love all the HF impact stuff. Never any problems.

I'm a pro wrench so my pinless swivels have to be top notch.

They are Craftsman made by Armstrong who also makes the MATCO pinless swivels. Not cheap by any means but they hold to to sever daily use.

I'm not a professional mechanic and ~45ish per impact seemed a little expensive..if I buy another set I can get 10-19mm with no skips as opposed to 10-17mm

Yeah I'm thinking either GP or SK right now..

I have been using the expert 3/8 set 10-19, great set for $100 from a Mac truck. I kept wearing out or breaking Matcos so I bought this set to try out and it has been great for a couple months now.

Now my Matco pinless 1/2" drive swivel joint locked up after using it on my 2135 about 6 times... Really disappointed with that one

That has been my experience with the Matco pinless, when they were pinned heck they lasted for years before warranty, when the new design came out the pinless everyone talks about being so great I don't get near the useage out of them before something happens to them. I have a couple that the first or second time I use them it's junk. The snap on, sunex, GP and expert by proto have all been fine and use pins

I have a Sunex (#2655) 1/2 universal set that i pretty much use every day (14mm and 17mm) for the past 2 years and they haven't let me down yet.

i've broken very few matco, mac and SO pinned type universals.

they do break occasionally, but it usually takes a LOT of daily use beating.

i've replaced 4 or 5 over the past 30 years of wrenching on const eq.


i have some MM HF 1/2" dr as well, they seem to be holding up good with limited use

I have a couple sets of SO's new welded sockets. IMHO they are the best, never had a problem, but you pay for that. Cornwells seem to get super "notchy" after a few hard uses. HF 1/2" drive has actually held up ok, but I don't use them all that often. I also have Gearwrench in 1/4" drive, they are ok, but the ring holding the pin limits where you can use them, especially in a tight engine bay.

The biggest advise I would give you is to get something with the smallest diameter you can. Those rings holding the pins in get in the way all the time (for me anyway), no matter who made them.
