Help plan the space beside my garage!

Hey, I know this isn't about my garage, but rather the space beside it!

I have a 40' wide lot, with 24x24 garage at the back of the property. 3' on one side of the garage, and 13' on the other. See my attached shameful, grossly mis-proportioned, mspaint drawing.:lol_hitti

We are about to build a 6' high wood fence all around the property, so I need to think about space and feasibility of some things! I'd like to build a 9' wide barn gate (double 4.5') in the 13 feet of space, to allow parking of a potential 3rd vehicle or toys or whatever. Do I center the 9' gate in the 13'? Do I **** it up against the garage or against the other side (allowing 4' of space on one of the sides)?

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to doing any of those?

If I **** the gate up against the garage or fence, would the 4' be a good place to build a shed? (probably 4' deep, 6' wide) Better to have the shed up against the garage, or the neighboring fence?

My fiance and I are arguing about planning the yard/fence/shed/life, so I need some assistance because she doesn't trust my ideas. haha

Thanks!
Josh

The centered gate would look better. If it were offset I would put the shed against the garage wall. It won't stick up over the neighbor's side of the fence. You could use the garage as one wall and if you decide you want a light inside wiring would be easier.

Check with your building code folks about any required setbacks for storage buildings.

Leaving that aside, one option is the Arrow 4x7 "lean to" shed. While I hate Arrow generally, this was the only shed I ever saw that actually lasted. (if you go this route, before assembling, wax the heck out the the exterior side of the panels with a top grade silicon based wax, and put a dab of clear silicon seal before shooting each screw in, and you might avoid the inevitable rust...)

In general I'd opt for the 4' fence near the garage, a 4' "day to day" gate, and a 7' gate from the corner of the lot with an strong anchor pin. Put a caster/wheel under the 7' gate.

Another option might be a rolling gate that rolls behind your garage?
