I'm not sure if I posted this in the wrong section, sorry for the double post.
The Dilemma:
The 1st level of our townhouse is a concrete slab foundation with in floor heating. Our "garage' has the concrete floor finished and looks nice with exposed sediment and a slight sheen. Our guest room which shares the same floor had a false bamboo floor built up on a brace. There was a small leak in our wall and the water was pooling under the false floor. We have remodeled the downstairs so that the guest room no longer has a false floor, just the heated concrete. The concrete in the guest room has never been been finished like the garage and it looks terrible.
I hired a guy who said he could match the look of the garage but he totally swindled me and just wound up "buffing" the floor for 30 mins and putting on 2 coats of water based clear coat. There are remaining stains and some weird thin coat of brownish stuff that looks to be swirly painted on ****. I can see the shadow of where the wood brace was that held up the false floor and you can feel about a 1/16, maybe 1/20 of an inch height difference between the finished garage and unfinished guest room.
I have since found out that they pebble blasted the garage concrete to get the pretty exposed sediment look. I cant really tell if they just clear coated it after that or epoxy (is that usually darker looking than water based clear coat?)coated or added grey tint. It definitely looks darker than whatever the f**k that guy I hired put on. I am only 28 and on a short/no budget and I was wondering if anyone could suggest the most cost effective way for me to try to match my garage floor. The room is only maybe 150 sq ft and its ready to go now. If I were to hire someone, how much do you think it should cost to grind down and coat the room? I am very handy and capable of doing things of this nature as long as I can find a detailed tutorial. I will attach some pictures below comparison.
