I'm trying to replace the plug and leads from the switch on an old Dunlap 1/3hp motor. I can't get the entire motor apart but I think I can fish the leads in without removing the shaft and front case. Has anyone ever done this before? I opened up the cover on the front of the motor and I think this is were the positive and negative leads from the switch connect to the motor.

THe leads appear to go from the switch to the back of this bar. I can see the negative going to the bottom screw but I can't see if the positive attaches to the top screw. I assume it does but before the burn down the house I wanted to see if anyone has experience with this. Sorry if this isn't clear.

Thanks!

The black (hot) from your plug cord would go to the switch. From the switch it goes to one pole of the motor (the two connections with nuts on them in the first picture). The white (neutral) from your power cord by-passes the switch and connects to the second connector on the motor. The third wire from your power cord (green) is the ground, which should connect to the frame of the motor or base plate.

If the model number is readable on that name plate, you can probably look up the manual at Sears.

Thanks. That is what I thought, but wanted to check. The motor is not reversible and there was no ground on the plug. This might be easier than I thought.
I think I am going to try snag a cheap/free motor to take apparat and learn how they work.
