I am getting rid of my late husband's shop equipment and have no idea of the value of some of these tools. Some I can find online. But others , it is like they never existed. Right now I am stuck on a Hitachi P12R planer. no model number that i have found. Got potential buyers but have no idea of value. HELP!
then there is the Dewalt 708 12" sliding Compound Miter Saw on a Werkart Stand,
an antique lathe,
RIGID jointer/planer,
Delta 14" Band saw BS-11,
Delta Shopmaster Model DP460m
Bench Grinder Model TDS-250,
a big! heavy vice which only says "Made in England",
Rockwell 10' Unisaw Model 64-450,
Delta tablesaw with no model #. I AM OVERWHELMED! and this does not even begin with the welding equipment.

Call an auction place and have it put on consignment.
They'll pick it up, and you'll get a check later based on highest bid, not some arbitrary value in some far off state or country on an unseen piece of equipment with parts missing or $4,000 added accesory(that's the WORTHLESS dollar amount info you'll get from gj).
There's no value until cash is in hand.

Ease has a price.
Auction is easy and clean and no backlash or bad checks or missed appointments or beating you up for sport about the price while you stand in the garage on a cold late late night accommodating someone who only brought half of what you asked while a methhead son is peeking in every corner of the shop.

Kit and kaboodle, loaded up and taken away by a bonded auction business in the business of getting you top dollar.
If you're overwhelmed just Making a list, you'll be dire during advertising and a sale.
Maybe call a nephew or knock on a neighbors door?

Sorry about the husband. I'm dreading being in your position when it's my time.

Potential yank. But I couldn't take the chance and leave her without a real answer.

First off...Sorry for your loss.

But let me then say that your husband had great taste in shop equipment. There is some good stuff in there.

I know more than a little bit about vises so I’m sending you a message with my personal email so you can send me a picture or 2 if you want to. Measure the width of the jaws because that helps set value. If it was made in England, chances are good it’s a Record or a Paramo. There are Vice experts living in England here on Garage Journal.

But like ducksface just said, maybe the best way is to call an auction house for the reasons he stated. The tools and equipment you have iare very difficult and expensive to ship so it’s a local market.

Welcome to the forum from Southwestern California.

Sorry about your loss. Eventually my wife may have a similar problem.

I agree with the advice that you call a Bonded & Licensed Auction House. There are too many people who would delight in taking advantage of someone in your position, and make a dishonest offer to purchase the tools and equipment at a price they can brag about.
With a public auction at least any purchase price will be in competition with other bidders.
He the Auction House will take a percentage, but they will be performing a service for their fees.

With my deepest sympathies.

The O.P. hasn’t been back on GJ to read anything since the minute she posted asking for help. I hope she’s OK.

We'll probably never hear from her again. If it's a horrible tragedy in her in her life she'll want to just get past this and move on. If she's going to be "The Merry Widow" then cashing out is all she's interested in. I've known a few of both and greatly sympathize with the former.
