SPX Genisys scan tool problems.


Friend has a SPX Genisys scanner that is not working. When you hit the power switch it powers up for 3 seconds and shuts down.

Any one have experience with these?

Possible dead battery? Have you tried turning it on with the ac adapter plugged in? Probably a stupid question but possible. I also believe you can re-load the operating system onto the memory card off of your computer mabee that would be worth a try?

PJM1 No not a silly question and yes it does the same thing with external power supply.
I know nothing about the SPX Genisys my friend and his family are going through some tough times with every one having some kind of bad health problem.
He asked me if I could ask around to see if others have had similar problems. From what I understand the problems started after he downloaded a update from the internet.

Does the manual show how to reload the original software and see if that cures the problem. This SPX Genisys was purchased new and is in a large black bow with lots of papers and atatachemnts.

Go to radio shack get the 9.6 volt RC battery comes with charger stand- $35

Also be sure that when he reloads software from the interwebs turn off all pop up blockers and anti-virus or you may end up with blue screen or no power ups. Been there done that lol
