So my 220v craftsman air compressor won’t start. How do I test this start cap with my mm? I’ve watched a few videos but just don’t understand it yet.

Use the ohms setting. Short the cap terminals to be sure it’s discharged. Attach meter leads, cap will show low impedance initially and wil quickly climb to infinity. Reverse your meter leads and cap will discharge quickly and then repeat the process of climbing to infinity. If cap climbs to infinity it indicates that the cap is acting as a cap. This is a rather basic and loose test of a cap and by no means exhaustive of other cap parameters.
