After years of not going any where near a tig torch I picked up a small hobby tig at an auction in hope of rekindling some old skills. I'm talking real amateur gluing two bits of metal together skills especially when compared to the talent on here.

Unfortunately I've no clue as to what size the torch is and I'm hoping I can draw upon the knowledge of the journal, there's no wp numbers on the torch just a T-150 stamp.

The collet has 1.6mm stamped on it which I gather is the tungsten size, and the shield has a 6 (or 9) on that I've noticed it doesn't really fit the torch correctly though as in the gap between the torch and the shield in the pic is when the shield is screwed all the way down.

9 is a standard TIG torch size. 6 is not.
But the number on the cup is the cup size, not the torch size. Looks like a size 6 cup to me.

1.6mm is a standard tungsten size.

There should be a teflon or rubber washer that sits between the cup and the body that you're missing. That's why there is a gap. You need to close that gap, or the argon flow will **** air in there causing issues.

Thanks rlitman that will explain the gap then, I'm looking at buying one of those spares kits and wondered what size the torch was? As in would a spares kit from a wp9 fit?

It's air cooled right? Miller has an A150, which is a 17 sized torch.
17 sized torches are air cooled, and are generally rated to 150A, so perhaps yours is 17 sized?

I think your best bet would be to take the torch into your local welding shop and see if they have that gasket. It should be like four bucks, and knowing the size, you can buy the correct collets, tungstens and cups online if you so choose.

How long are the collets?

Good question. That should narrow it down nicely once we know.

I happen to have a 17 sized torch I no longer use, but mine is setup with a gas lens, and that uses different collets than the OP's, so measuring mine wont help, but I'm sure someone else here can chime in.

See Article 225. That Cebora (Italian-made) TIG welder came with a hard-wired TIG torch:

Although the welder is out of production, you might find parts if you contact them or find a distributor.

Wow, that link was a let down, but you did find the right machine. The parts list had no part numbers. Just the names of parts. The manual is three pages long, and tells you how to TIG weld and grind a tungsten. LOL

He might find that parts from a Weldcraft torch works (if they're available in the UK), but he probably needs to take it to a welding supply shop so they can see what fits. I like the switch on the handle, but I'm not sure if it's for variable current control or just a plain On/Off switch. It looks like an inexpensive machine, so I assume that it's the latter.

Thanks for the replies Denis g, rlitman and advan. The torch is definitely air cooled and the collet size is 50mm plus the body is 47mm, I've been doing a bit more internet searching and it looks like its got wp17 size spares installed on the torch.

So I'll order a spares kit off of the internet for it and give it a go. I'd like to support a local business with the purchase but the nearest welding supplies store to me is a 60 mile trip shame really.
