Alright garage masters, I could use some guidance. I bought a 40 ft shipping container with a small workshop inside and it came with the bench vise you see below. It is rough but functional other than needing new vise jaws. I have one jaw and the other is likely next to Jimmy Hoffa so a new set is desired. The problem I am having is how to buy another set. Grainger needs a make and model and I don't want to order a set and have it not work. Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

I was afraid it would be an import thus hard to replace the jaws...with the correct fit. I suppose I will try the harbor freight avenue b/c with only one jaw, it doesn't close completely. Drilling holes in new jaws so the holes line up seems like extra work but if it can make my now free, almost useless bench vise useful...

Well the HF route didn't work out. Finding one in the sea of incomplete matches isn't worth my time. How about you machinists out there? Can I get one made for a reasonable price? I have one jaw so the specs are in my hand. I can video, take pics, give measurements, combo of all three? Is there someone who can take a strong piece of metal, size it, cross hatch, put in two holes and send it to me? If need be, I can do the holes. I just don't have that type of metal around my place and don't need it for one jaw. I'd be willing to part ways with a couple of $20 bills to get it made and sent to my place. A $40 vise is better than a free useless vise.

check Craigslist. lots of these vises for sale from $30 to $100 in Washington and usually in the $50 range so maybe also in your area. most of the ones I have seen in person are broken in some way so you should be able to get parts if yours is working correctly except for the missing jaw. Best idea is to sell it and use the money to buy a better vise.

It's a "Mass Production Cheapo" brand. They're great for pounding on, welding and cutting with and generally not caring about. I have a similar one. It's my outdoor vice and I love it. It's worth every penny I paid for it ... which wasn't much. :D
