Hi everyone! My dad passed away in 2011 and I was left all of his tools. I have a rolling tool box that is missing the logo and does not seem to have any identifying marks or numbers anywhere on it. Does anyone have an idea who made this box? If I can figure out what make and model it is I would love to restore it.

Thanks!

Snap On, my guess. There may be a model/date code stamped on it somewhere small.

I don't know about a SO because the lock should be on the center " shelf". I do think is a MBC made box.

:+1: I don't think it is a snap on, but :dunno:. Can you post a pics of the drawer slides? Possibly an MBC box.

A few things that throw me off.
-Placement of the lock
-The bottom frame rail looks really thin compared to the top
-Placement of the holes for the badge

Also where the emblem was is no right. Normally they were on the drawer. Some really old ones the emblem was on top, but centered. I kinda wonder if it is an old Mac. I have seen some similar to that box.

Thanks for all the help guys! I know the top box actually is a Snap on KRM-54 I think... But the bottom box looks to have a different color paint and I have been all over the bottom roller and cannot find a serial number or manufacturer. The top box and bottom roll-away do seem to have similar drawers but still do not look like a matching set.

The top box does have an identification number on the back:

Here are some more pictures of the bottom roll-away drawers:

And here is the only writing/sticker I have found on the entire roll-away, it is located on the inside of the top drawer:

I have torn apart the whole bottom roll-away and never found a serial number or model number but I did see the company that made the steel for the toolbox. On the inside it said ARMCO 15073 MI. Made in USA.

From what I know my dad actually purchased the top snapon box in the 1970s but the bottom roll-away was my grandfather's so I think it is a bit older.

i have a LYON mid box that has that same locking mechanism.
pull a drawer all the way out and see if the box is painted inside,
my LYON is not, the MAC boxes it looks like are painted inside.

i (believe) the corporate entity which is now AK steel (formerly american rolling mills) didn't take the name ARMCO until 1948. so if you are seeing a manufacturer mark, ARMCO on the steel, it may date the box sometime after 1948? just a thought. perhaps the MI stands for MIddletown, OH, where they had a large steelworks. neat to think about.

My friend picked up a HUOT that looks a lot like this, but looking at the drawer handles I would think snap on too, but they usually had the model number stamped on the back.

Hello Everyone,
Need your help.
I have the MBC 70's 5364 tool box. It has a lock only on the top drawl without key. Recently, I wanted to lock the box. Does only the top drawl lock or the remaining as well? Please help!
