Help tub faucet repair - puller tool broke

The bathtub/shower has been leaking hot water, so my plan was/is to rebuild the faucet stem.

I’m stuck in step one (removing the handle), as my cheap puller tool came apart.

Now the end of the tool is stuck in the stem and the faucet handle is still stuck on.

Any advice?

maybe a dremel or abrasive tool and carefully cut away at the handle . a pair of vice grips on the broken tool & try to wiggle it out of there?

just as an FYI, I assume you're aware you have major water damage ...

What brand of Cartridge are you pulling?

A word of advise, when repairing faucets w/ chrome plated pot metal handles put a dab of plumbers grease on he top of the stem where the handle sits, the time saved will be worth the effort.

Gerber, I think.

I did the cold side a while back, and “gerber” is what comes to mind.

So the thing sticking out is the remains of a puller? Never used one on a handle before. Probably vice grips and a lot of wiggling it around to get it loose will work.

Looks like there is enough sticking out to get a threading die on it. Thread it, add a spacer, and run a nut down until it pops out.

Three jaw puller on the handle? Probably ruin the handle, if that matters to you.

It just might be time to swallow hard, grit your teeth, and have a professional install a rebuild able mixing valve; my choice would be a Moen.
