don't worry about the age and model#. I'm a sucker of industrial storage. grab it and go if the price is right, assume you have the floor space to keep it.

Why would the age of the box matter? Construction and condition are all that matter on used equipment.

if you are concerned about the drawer pulls, you can get the brand new ones with end caps for $6 a piece.

If the price is right, just go grab that thing and worry about carbon dating it later.

With the drawers and carriages (if it uses them) removed, two men can easily lift that into the back of a pickup.

just call Stanley Vidmar directly for the drawer pulls. you may have to drill couple holes on them because they don't make the older style any more, but it's aluminum, easy as pie.

400 is a very good deal consider the size of that thing.

$400 is a very good price for a box that size/width.

Good casters will add to the price, if you decide to add them. Still, that's a lot of box for that money. What does Sears want for a tinfoil 26" wide box these days?

Personally, I would get the wider box; I know the taller one has more drawers but width to me is more important. Also, the wider boxes are less common to find locally than the taller, narrower ones. Grab the wide one now, and look for a deal on a taller box if you need more space later.

Carbon dating is a way that scientists date very old objects; I was just making a joke.

Bull, I thought you joke was good!!

I have 8 or that style cabinet and would buy every one I could at the $400 price range provided the drawers work well and they weren't beat up. I display used tools for sale in mine and they work great.

As far as which to buy, that's your personal choice decision but if you want to put casters on it, buy the shorter wide one.

Regardless of choice you will love that cabinet.

Good luck!!
