Friends,
I just scored this Mac air grinder ( it works) at a local yard sale for 5 $; I tried searching for the model to get info and to see about getting some new parts for it but no results. Does anybody knows the model number or name? The only thing I see is JE2.
thanks for the help.
Andre

Looks late 80's to mid 90's. In the 1985 catalog there is one similar with a part number ADG205

Macaxis,
thank you for your reply. I have looked with the part number that you provided me and it is similar as you said but not quite there. I found an image identical to mine but the little part number JE2 is not on the picture one.
You think Mac customer service might have an answer?

How about a ADG250B?

That's it:thumbup: They switched from A to B style between 1998 & 2001, so it's newer than either of us thought. I started with the '88 catalog and worked forward.

If it works what do you need? Is it low on power?

Call MAC and see if they can be of any help.

Thank you Macaxis, I think that is the one judging by the picture. Problem is I went to many parts diagram sites and I looks like they only have parts for the ADG250A, which is pretty much the same machine but are the part compatible?

It might be an updated housing with the same internals. Those heavy duty MAC grinders didn't need any improving. What parts do you need?

Thanks guys! I have to say that the bearings sound pretty rough in there and have some play to it. I was planning of giving it a tune-up as well as a nice clean up. It is pretty nasty and wanted to take it apart and clean internal components as well. Guess replacing the vanes would not be a bad idea since I'm at it.
Problem is the top cover will not unscrew, it is either seized in or rusted in. Tried PB blaster and let it soaked but nothing. any suggestions?

Bearings should be standard (metric) sizes you can get from anywhere. Get something decent not chinese ****. Vanes I don't bother to replace unless they're heavily worn. Just make sure they move freely in the rotor slots.

To get it apart clamp the flats by the air inlet in a vise. Then a piece of heavy leather to protect the front ring and a decent sized pair of Knipex Alligators or similar should unscrew it.

I was just able to free up the top part and take apart the tool... well it was very very nasty and rusted up, I will need some parts that are no longer in production to fix it properly and cannot figure out how to remove the trigger mechanism . Bearings I ordered already.
Picture will follow of the restoration process

For the trigger valve assembly drive out the retaining pin and it should all pull out.

Thank you MattT,
I removed the pin finally ( it was rusted in along with gunk and stuff) but still the trigger valve assembly will not come out. I wonder if it's stuck in place.

You're welcome. Yeah they can be difficult to pull out. Shoot some penetrating oil in the air inlet and on the top of the valve assembly. Let it sit a day then try it.

mattT,
after many hours of PB blaster and a punch pin I was able to finally remove the pin from the selector valve on top and remove the trigger valve. The pin got destroyed so I will need to find one that fits it.
The trigger valve was super nasty... the stench was terrible. I put everything in the ultrasonic blaster and we will see the results.
The arbor was pretty damaged too when I took it apart so we will see if I can find part for it
