My buddy has an older Snapon tool box. It is a 50" roll around with friction slides for all the drawers except the bottom is ball bearing. The ball bearing drawer will not stay closed. What are some options for fixing this? We can't find any model numbers on it (where are they normally?)...but it is red :headscrat

I'm thinking the bottom drawer just needs new detents for the slides. Does the drawer open when the box is on a slight incline?

I haven't thrown a level on it...but the box is VERY prone to the drawer just opening on its own.

I've posted some garbage posts in my time but that one takes the cake. The difference with me though is that I'll go back and delete my garbage posts - HINT!!

I know this is a crappy pic but it is from a cell phone and the best I have right now. Does this help ID the box?

Most likely you have heavy tools on the bottom drawer near the front of the drawer and your toolbox is not level (slopes out).

That looks like the KR660 model series. Have your friend remove the bottom drawer and look at the very back of the slides - there should be a detent on each slide like shown in these photos. If the detents are missing for whatever reason, he should be able to see a tang on the slide where the detent slides onto. If the detents are the same as in these photos, they are readily available through Snap-on.

In my old Craftsman Pro series (now gone) with the plastic dentents I put magnets in the cabinet and puled out all the detents, held the drawers shut pretty well.

Which makes sense on the CP boxes because the pinch type clips on the back are annoying. :(

If you need those, by the way, anyone else reading this, you get them from Waterlook as Craftsman wants too much, or can't figure out what you need. Waterloo knows their stuff.

On the SnapOn, since they will send you detents for free, why bother?
Unless you just like magnets for the cool factor.
