Hi there,

I know there have been a few threads regarding the black clips to keep the drawers from dumping, but where can one find the actual slides? Couple of Kennedy ones on the bay' but not sure if they are the same? I just picked up the middle box and it is in need of some love and hopefully soon I can finish wet sanding and polishing the top. I don't have pictures of the bottom but it is a vintage grainger/dayton from the same era. The top and bottom chests were my dads and are filled with a combination of my grandfathers, my dads and my tools. Little bit of history! Anyways, any knowledge to get them back to their functioning glory would be great.

Why do you need slides, are they bent?

Usually, I just clean them well with a solvent then file the sharp edges and coat them with paraffin wax.

Did you try contacting MAC? They should be able to help you. The clips might be the same as the Waterloo made Sears toolboxes, if so, you can find those on Ebay too.

I have a Matco MB503 middle toolbox that looks just like yours. I got the parts directly from Matco (for free) when the local Matco truck guy turned out to be a zero.

That's great! I have a Snap-on roll cab from the 60's that I needed a couple of slides for. Snap-On customer service told me sure they would send them....For like 30 bucks a piece!!:eyecrazy:

I did send an email to MAC yesterday, so I'll give em a call. The middle box came without one set of drawer slides, but for the $45 price tag I really can't complain. The other boxes are missing a few clips, but no biggie; they have also been lubed with beeswax. Seems to work pretty darn good. Better than the sticky old grease my dad had on there! Well, if MAC can't help out then I will check in with Sears, MATCO and Waterloo.

Hmm, on another post, one of the GJ'ers said they send them for free???? (I didn't think so, unless you square root 'em from them).

Those clips turn up on Ebay.

I think up until 1979 Mac and Matco were intermingled/the same company. So, you might find interchangeable parts there.

The clips for the Waterloo turn up on Ebay and I've got several spares for my MB503 from what I remember. You shouldn't have a problem getting 'em.
