I have not installed gutters yet. They are on the wish list, the project ended up well over budget and I'm still trying to catch up. The grade slopes away from the barn on all sides. drainage isn't a problem. In the mean time I am keeping up with an minor erosion caused by rain water by replacing dirt with my tractor while I attempt to get some vegetation growing around the barn to keep it in check.

I had fiber put in my concrete, and i had little hairs sticking up for a very long time after it was done. i know it was put in as i ordered the fiber from the plant for my concrete guy. i think it helps when you are your own GC. i know lots of folks are not comfortable doing that though.

I did all of the work on the barn myself except for the excavation (because I don't have the equipment and my wife wouldn't let me buy it) and the concrete. I've been around construction my entire life and I know my limitations. Concrete is an art form similar to mudding drywall. I'm not good at either so those are two things I hire out. I trusted a "professional" to do what we had discussed and what he had quoted. He changed the plan on his own without consulting me be switching to fiber over wire. I would not have agreed to that had he asked. So based on the fact I can see any fiber and that he has not provided any proof that fiber was added I feel he just plain forgot about the wire and is making an attempt to cover his ****. Lying to me only makes things worse. I want to fight this, but I don't think my pockets are deep enough to hire an attorney. I'm ready to chalk it up as a learning experience and move on hoping for the best. My wife is not willing to give up and will go down kicking a screaming. I fear he (the concrete guy) has awoken the beast...

Here is part of the ongoing battle with this guy.
“Fiber mesh is stronger then the wire that is why I added it in. I did not forget anything and you are correct each load has a mix ticket they get mailed to us every 30 days on our account. I never told you anything about how fast you would receive it I told you I would get it to you as soon as I could”. Even if what he is saying is true I still didn’t get what I requested. I’m just so over dealing with this guy.

My barn has fibers and wire mesh. I have the mix sheets for each load.

I cannot see fibers visually on the slab surface. But I could see fibers in the saw cuts of the control joints until I filled them with Sika-Flex.

Look in the control joints Jeeper89... see if you can see any fibers there.

Maybe we have different fibers down here in Florida. But I can tell you without a doubt I can tell there is fiber is in my floor.

Try taking a flashlight and shine it in the saw cuts and see if you see anything.

I was planning on doing that tonight when I get home, I had to get my son down to the bus stop this morning. I guess if he added one fiber somewhere in the mix it has fiber in it right?

He has provided proof of fiber. It took way too much back and forth but I got a copy of the mix ticket. It's still not the wire I had asked for but there seems to be a bit of a debate on which is "better". I'll live with it and move on Time to get ready for some doors.

How much did they use? What strength was the concrete?

Here's the mix sheet for one of the loads on my shop for comparison:

I was told by him and another friend that has a fair amount of concrete knowledge that 5 1/2 sack would be around 4000 psi. At this point I just have to hope for the best. I'm not an expert and I have to trust that he did the right thing and move on.

So what are the results did you get lift installed? What are the measurements with your truck on the lift? I have a similar vehicle to place on a two-post lift that I'm wanting to install.

The project is basically on hold for now. I have two kids that play hockey and it's that time of year. Crazy expensive sport but they are only kids once I will put everything on hold to allow them to enjoy what they love.
As for the lift I did have them put tow 3' x 6' x 6" thick pads centered 15' in from the door and 11' on center from each other. After looking at a few different lift brands I figured I should be safe with that. So far I don't have any signs of significant cracking or shifting but the winter should tell me a lot. Wish I had better answers for you, if anyone is ever in the West Michigan area and wants to stop by to check out my shop feel free to contact me.
