Not sure, didn't ask. I will PM him and ask. I hoped a GJ member could find me a big one 115/220 at swap meets or flea markets ect. But nobody offered after I posted/asked so I'm back to myself again and asking advice.

That's the first question. The general rule is that big, cheap grinders, saws, lathes, etc that you want are 3ph if you only have single phase service. Later when you get 3ph service these items will be unfindable for cheap...

In my experience they're pretty good but new they're overpriced. What are you specifically looking for? Slow speed? 8"+? 1HP or bigger?

Looking for 8-10" VS 3/4-1HP and US made. I have a couple controllers from my gpa after he died that I can use to slow them down when needed.

VS single phase is hard to come by, 3 phase with a VFD should be pretty easy to do for not too much money. That first grinder you posted, if 3ph, might be a good candidate.

I've had one for about 8 or 9 years. It runs very quiet and smooth and the wheels run true. Like any grinder, the wheels that come with it are rock hard and you'll want to replace them with something softer for faster cutting and less overheating. Although it looks like the wheel on the right has already been replaced. If that's a soft white Norton then it's a good wheel. You'll also probably want to make or buy a better tool rest which is also something you'd want to do with any grinder short of an industrial Baldor.
