Good evening folks,
I am hoping you can help me with something I have been pulling my hair out over. I am trying to wire a 115v ac gear motor to a reversing drum switch. I can't figure out how to do it. I have poured through forums and ebay, but still can't figure it out. I have a dayton motor and a dayton drum switch. I have included the schematics below. If you could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

The motor works when I wire it up per the directions, in both directions. I just don't know how to get it connected to the drum switch.

thanks,

Here is how I would wire it...

My free advice is not to "plug reverse it" meaning swap the drum switch under speed and or load. Let its connected inertia come to a stop before swapping directions.

First off,
thanks for taking the time and helping me. I really appreciate it. I will try it out this afternoon. I have a follow up question though...well actually two.

1) Is L1 Hot or Neutral? (Probably doesn't matter?)
2) Where do I attach L2?

It is for a motorized bead roller, so I won't switch it under load. I am hoping to have about only 10 rpms anyways :))

Not really, I don't think that is the same switch style. Thanks for trying though. I have poured through a bunch of those, but haven't found one that matches yet. The motor is a 4 wire.

I figured out what was screwing me up. I thought that both the hot and neutral wire needed to be wired to the switch. I couldn't figure out a possible way of doing this in a way that met all the conditions listed on the motor plate. That was because it was impossible to do. The hot wire was not supposed to be utilized in the switch. It just connected straight to the yellow wire.

Thank you very much Matt. IT WORKED!!!!!!! Once I layed it out, it became clear that the hot lead was wired straight through to yellow wire. I wired it up, checked to see that both conditions were met and then tried it. Thank you very much.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Great stuff! Now make a little "as-built" wiring diagram and stick inside of there (or photo and upload to PC) for someday when you will forget about this and have to go back inside of there. :)
