I picked up a welding bench with a Snap-On Vise attached at a farm sale. Is there a model number stamped in the body of the vise? The jaws are not quite 5" across and replaceable. It is a swivel base with the round screw housing and a pipe jaw. I'm thinking it is a 4-1/2 mechanics vise? Are the replacement jaws available for it?

The number is 1750

Thanks,

Thanks for the info guys. I will check with my Snap-On guy Monday and see what is available. Who handles Wilton parts, as I would guess they might be cheaper.

Wilton's website: http://www.wiltontools.com/us/manufacturing/en/wilton/home.html

Looks like the 1750 is discontinued; the closes is the 1755; which is 5.5" rather then 5.0" jaws: http://www.wiltontools.com/us/manufacturing/en/wilton/product.html?node=4546&product=1096

Give Wilton support a call and see what parts they have:
Replacement parts can be purchased directly from Walter Meier Manufacturing Americas via our website on the Replacement Parts page or by calling Consumer Relations at 800-274-6848 - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (CST, Monday - Friday). Replacement parts can also be purchased through distributors. Make sure to call ahead for availability. Not all distributors carry all products and product parts.

Snapon's parts section for their vises: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/parts/Product_Directory2.asp?cat_ID=3450404

Looks like jaws are the parts available: http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/parts/pro_det.asp?Item_id=13176&group_id=23487

That vise is a Wilton Tradesman 1745. Milex sells jaws reasonable. Wilton Part # 2908060 and maybe think about getting new pipe jaws at he same time Wilton # 2904200 around $14.
