Help with Aircat 1300

I picked up a used Aircat 3/8" impact the other day - model 1300-TH, maybe? It didn't work, so I tore it apart (This isn't the first air tool I've rebuilt, so I'd like to think I sorta know what I'm doing). Cleaned all the old oil and grease out, inspected the seals and o-rings, re-lubed and reassembled. I must have done something wrong as it didn't even spin, it just spat air out the exhaust. After several attempts of reassembling, it still wouldn't work.

If I leave the hammer case off and apply pressure to the front end plate, I can get it to work, but it's kinda anemic. Once I add the anvil and hammers: nothing.

Any ideas what I did wrong or what's broken or what's missing? If I just buck up and get a rebuild kit, will that help?

(I can take better and closer pictures if anybody wants.)

Sorry if I'm insulting your intelligence, but did you oil up the vanes? Could it be that the plastic blades are stuck?

Yeah, I pulled all the vanes, cleaned the rotor, cleaned the vanes and re-oiled 'em well when I put it back together. The rotor seems to spin freely and the vanes appear to move appropriately.

Any other ideas?

If I hold the rotor cover on (instead of bolting the anvil case on), they spin, although not with as much "oomph" as I would expect. If the anvil case is on, nothing.

I'd be looking at the trigger assembly.

Check the ends of the rotor for any nicks or dings.

Just installed a rebuild kit (new seals, o-rings and vanes) and put it back together. It spins up to speed now, but doesn't seem to have any power? Any ideas?

Stupid question...but whats your air supply like?

I had a similar issue with my IR 2115timax a while back...tore it down a hundred times and almost pulled all of my hair out. Then eventually realized it was my stupid air supply. I was running 120psi out from the compressor, but apparently my HF hose reel + cheapo Lowes air fittings really restricted the air flow to a point my 2115 did not want to run. I connected a hose directly to compressor with milton V fittings..and I finally felt all the power i had been unknowingly missing for a few years.

Stupid question...but whats your air supply like?

My air supply seems to be enough to power my 1/2" Nitrocat impact or any of my die-grinders without problem. I hooked directly to the compressor, though, to check and still had full rpm, but no power.

there should be a square "o" ring on the bottom of the cylinder, make sure it's still on there. there is also a metal ring and a gasket on the back of the cylinder that need to be there.
