Hi all. Have an old (1960’s? 1970’s?) 10” Baldor grinder with what appears to be the wrong capacitor in it. The grinder runs fine, but sounds really sad trying to get up to speed. I put in new bearings, so mechanically everything is happy.
I’m not sure what to think, as the case of the cap looks to be of similar vintage/rust as the rest of the grinder, but having a 12MFD cap doesn’t make sense to me as a start capacitor. Btw it’s reading about 16MFD with a meter, so it’s bad either way.
Can some of you electrically inclined guys help out? I don’t want to waste money/hassle with returns on buying the direct replacement if my hunch is right and it should have something more like a 175+MFD start cap in it.
Careful wiring attention to detail by a previous owner [emoji849]

Machine tag still intact, amazingly.

Capacitor information.

Thanks fellas!!
