I have had this fixture on the side of my house for as long as I can remember. It used to light up the driveway when my kids we little and played baskets ball out there at night. We have 2 identical fixtures.

Last night I went to flip it on so I could instal my snow tires (yuck) and it won’t turn on.
My guess is the bulb is 25 plus years old and original to the time of install.

I’m going to get up on a ladder to open the fixture and take out the bulb so i can match it up and install a new one. My questions are

1. How do I open the fixture?

2. What’s this light fixture called ?

3. Is the wattage listed on the bulb?

4. How does the bulb seat and remove ?

Thanks for the help.

Jeff

1. The glass comes out the front. You have to loosen the screws that hold the frame together so that you can wiggle the glass out.
2. It's a flood light
3. Yes, but they wear off sometimes. There should also be a sticker on the inside with some information.
4. One end has a socket that's springy. You push into the springy end and the other end can slide forward. Reverse to install.

Those are double ended quartz lamps. Dont touch the new one with your bare hands, wear gloves. Also consider just replacing the entire fixture. New LED versions are pretty cheap.
Good luck,

300 or 500W halogen. Could also be 150W if the fixture is smaller than it looks like.

Quartz lamp. I see hinges on top. They will handle 200 to 500 watt bulbs. Incredibly inefficient and I can’t believe it lasted that long, either. Replace with LED when you find you can’t get those bulbs anymore.

There are LED replacements for halogen lamps, but replacing the fixture is another option, the one advantage a lamp substitution has over a new fixture is you don't need throw away the whole fixture when the lamp fails.

the screw on the front bottom of the fixture comes out and the lid lifts open .you'll see it's hinged .
I would replace the bulb with an led . but that's me, I like to retrofit fixtures so all I do is replace a bulb, not the entire fixture when it goes bad

Some things to consider….

It is an old fixture that ran at high temperatures for a long time. Replace it if there is deterioration inside

Invest in a quality fixture from the supply house. I have a RAB fixture similar to the one the OP linked from Amazon. It works well and should last a long time.
YMMV
