So I think I scored a good deal on an Emglo gas compressor. It's model g8hga-17p for reference. I got it for 100 bucks but it was partially disassembled. My problem is I got new belts and went to reattach the motor and can't get it far enough back and straight enough for the belts.... I'm sure there is a simple way but I just am not seeing it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Just the motor is adjustable and not the pump? Is it possible you could have pump/motor on opposite sides ?

I mean, "far enough back" could be a belt/pulley issue. But the fact that the belts won't even line up is another issue. Sounds like something isn't mounted in the correct spot.

The pump is fixed and motor is the ONLY part adjustable, - correct ?

IIRC on my Champion, the motor mount is slotted for belt tightness, and the pump mount is slotted for belt alignment.

Also an easy tip (or at least how I do it) for tightening the belt I put a cheap factory car jack between the motor and the pump. I don't make the belt as tight as I can get it by all means leave some slack it is needed. But it will hold it steady while you tighten, you can also tighten 1 corner bolt on each and let off some on the jack or tighten up some if you need to work on the alignment of the belt.

I believe the pump can be moved as well however it was already on the tank so I assumed all tension and alignment was done on the motor end. I don't believe it is the pulley but as I pull back on the motor to create the tension on the belts, I can't seem to get the side with the belts far enough back to get the bolt through the motor and mounting base.

Good idea mayday! I may have to give that one a try. And thanks!

Put the motor on first with the bolts loose then put your belts on you will have much better success.... all you need is to get a belt started then turn the pulley by hand to get it on the rest of the way. Much easier then trying to stretch the belt any while pulling a motor and sticking a bolt through....

Yea , I looked at a blow-up diagram of your model and it showed fixed holes for the pump.

My comp has adjustments on both, yours looked fixed, -

Can you get it to align with the belt off ?

Adjust the motor where it needs to be with the belts off. Tighten the motor down. Then roll the belt on the sheaves. I do this with success all the time.
