Hello,

I have a 1/2" craftsman ratchet that my dad gave me but the selector switch is broke. Does a repair kit come with the selector switch or do you think I'm going to have a hard time finding one?

Yes it will come with the lever.
Most Sears won't have kits for that older ratchet though.
Best bet is eBay.

After taking a quick glance on ebay it looks like if would be cheaper to buy a whole ratchet and just rob parts if the only problem with yours is the broken lever.

That's what I love about this, and the fact that my dad gave it to me

The only issue I have with that style ratchet is those selectors really stick out there and take a beating, but other than that they are decent and IMO way better than the newer USA and chinka versions. replied to the PM.

You can always try and repair the selector knob you have. I've done it on a 1/2" C-man rat.

Drill a hole in it and insert a steel pin. Then apply some 2-part epoxy and maneuver the piece as it slowly hardens to get the approximate shape you need. Then let it fully cure, grind to finished shape and paint.

I cherish the tools my father gave me he let me have his whole extensive snap on collection and I love the feeling I get when I use them. One of the ratchets a 3/8 long handle needs replaced the chrome is all coming off the handle but I just hate to exchange it because I can't replace dads ratchet and it was his favorite I'm torn right now. I could get a brand new dual80 but them I lose a member of the family most of the tools are from 81-82 and 84-85 and 88 I was born in 88 the ratchet in question is an 85 I think.

That's one heck of an idea! Nice work, I might have to try this on the side and see how it comes out!
