Hi all.

I am fixing a bad plaster job with drywall. Things are going ok,( I don’t have much experience in this field.)

I have a gap between the door and wall. I want to put some drywall there but I don’t have anything to anchor too.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could anchor drywall to this gap or another suggestion?

Thank you so much.

Can you cut a board the size of the opening and screw it to something substantial and then screw your drywall to it?

How deep is that gap? What are the hinges screwed into? Assuming its OK structurally I might fill gap with sprayfoam and trim it flush when dry then put some drywall compound on both sides and set a piece of inside corner bead into compound. When that sets you should be able to finish like anything else.

If it's not good structurally you may need to pull jams and install a stud. Hard to tell what's there from pic.

Is there not a stud there? What's holding up the door frame?

Hi all. Sorry for the late reply.

There is a stud there, but no this home was built circa ww2 so there was not much oversight on the construction.

I’m just gonna insulate and put trim over.

Thanks all for the input.
