Help with estimating

Hopefully this is the right place... I have a garagaminium/barndaminium (whatever you want to call it...shop with living space above) plans and have been trying to get an idea of what the cost should be. I know with material cost it changes day by day. I'm hoping if I post here I can get some good opinions. The plans I got were from here and if anyone could help on a price, Id appreciate it. Total cost or a price per sq. ft would be great...just don't want to screw myself and have a real idea since I don't know where to start. Also do I calculate price per square foot dependant upon if its living space vs garage space? Im kind of lost when it comes to an estimation and when I look online at average prices it varies between $115 and $275. Any help is apprecisted!

Finishes will greatly impact pricing as will local market conditions. Not knowing where you live doesn't help.

I'd go into it expecting $200/ft for a basic space and start getting quotes. Also budget a good chunk for overruns.

wages and material costs vary in different parts of the country. Be sure to update your avatar or sig line so it reflects where you are. The next big part of the equation is five companies can make bids, figuring which one will do the job right is usually harder than getting a price. I can remember dealing with HVAC contractors 20 years ago. The same system varied in price from the $8,000 it cost me to $20,000. Then the people who bid $20,000 wanted to redo their bid to go under $8K. Someone making that much of a jump isn't to be trusted. I ended up going with a company I already knew of and was very pleased. Right now I have been trying to get my roofer back out for six months. Yada Yada someone will call you and no one ever does. Know what I mean?

3 months ago I was quoted 72K for a 32x32 attached...yep just three walls, basic electric, 10 foot ceiling otherwise nothing fancy... Amish Built Company out of Lancaster pa..Once the Mortgage is done in April I may resize it and get more quotes...Good Luck OP

I tend to look over Menards.com (project center), they have a million kits or design your own, it's pretty easy to get the kit price, I'd double that if someone is building it for you. Concrete is going through the roof these days, maybe something like $8 Sq/ft to ball park numbers for floor and walls, even that price might be light these days.
