I have a porter cable pancake compressor that just stopped working a while back. It has been through two Army moves but other than that it hasn't been abused (or even used all that much). There's no sign of activity when turned on at all.

Any tips on trouble shooting/repair?

I would open it up and make sure the wires are secure. Is there a starting capacitor? You could check that. Also, check to make sure it has been oiled. I had a cheapo compressor that would not turn over anymore - gave it to my Father in Law, and he added oil and it still works - 15 years later.

see if there is voltage at the pressure switch, then see if there is voltage after the pressure switch . often motors will have a red reset button on the side somewhere , see if that's depressed.
thats a start anyway

I have a similar version by Harbor Freight and the bridge rectifier inside the motor shorted and was causing the fuse to blow. I soldered a new one and it works again. Some compressors have the bridge on a circuit board next to the motor.

Youtube has several tutorials on fixing that compressor. Very easy to work on, as well.
