Hello all,

New here. I just need a little help with my new garage. It is 24x24 with a concrete floor. i would like to do 50's theme in the garage. My questions are what tiles to use on the floor after I level it out and smooth it over. Do I go with the peel and stick tile, ceramic, Nafco or VCT. Attached is what Im trying to copy.

Thank you again fofr any help or suggestions.

That looks great, and is probably VCT. I believe it requires some pretty diligent maintenance if you want those white tiles to not end up with tire prints on them.

See how he's got the rubber sitting on the black?

I have ceramic. It was pretty cheap (.59/sf). I've been very happy with it for five years now. Although if I did it again, I'd probably get porcelain, which I've seen for $1/sf.

Lots of options. VCT has several threads so I won't go there. There are interlocking tile, PVC tile and self stick PVC tile. I would think the BLT self stick tile with their clear top coat would be a great solution.

Hey Justin,

Thank you for the update and comments. I see the price difference between VCT and BLT is quite large. Why is this and what are the differences in the actual material and process of manufacturing. What is the difference in the adhesive characteristics.
Sorry for being a nag but I used to be in production line manufacturing and coatings. So I do have some understanding of how things are made.
Do you think it would be better to go with ceramic or porcelain tile.

Thank you again for your time and help

There is a HUGE difference in price and design between the two products. When it comes to an inexpensive floor, nothing is going to compare to VCT

Unlike VCT BLT tiles are specifically designed for the garage. They promote traction, will not crack, break or chip. You do not have to wax them. They are constructed from 95 Mil PVC. A commercial grade adhesive is then pre applied to the back side. When customers are looking at white I always tell them to do the top coat and still offer this reminder: White garages are like a white dress shirt on my 6 year old. Its dirty as soon as it comes out of the package :)

If you have the skills to do ceramic or porcelain tile they can be an amazing and virtually indestructible option.

Here's my friends garage. Several thousand feet of ceramic tile down for probably 15 years.
Just your basic black & white.
